Mthandazo Gatya is beaming after performing on stage with John Legend.
The US hitmaker invited the South African musician to perform onstage after Gatya shared a clip of himself singing Legend’s song Nervous in Zulu went viral last week.
Following their first performance over the weekend, the pair took to the stage again in a pre-recorded video performance that was played at the Global Citizen Festival, held simultaneously in New York City and Accra, Ghana.
“A world of possibilities,” Gatya wrote alongside a photo of himself and Legend after their second performance.
He later shared a short clip, thanking Legend and Bidvest for the opportunity.
“It isn’t just him calling me to perform with him that moved me but how he made sure everybody knows I’m the reason he’s gone viral in SA. Thank you, John Legend, for allowing God to use you to elevate me.”

The stage performances come after Legend gave Gatya his approval by retweeting the viral video in which Gatya performs Nervous in Zulu.
In a recent interview with News24, the EGOT title-holder praised his South African fans and revealed that he plans a tour to the country to promote his latest self-titled album.
