 South Africa’s STAY LOW music label celebrated a landmark achievement at the 30th Annual South African Music Awards (SAMA30) as two of its artists claimed major wins. lordkez was awarded Best RnB/Soul Album for her deeply emotive debut album, Testament, while Priddy Ugly took home Best Hip Hop Album for his album, Dust.

With Priddy Ugly taking home Best Hip Hop Album, the award ties up the rapper’s final project after fifteen years in the industry.  “It’s been 15 years. That’s 3 albums and 3 mixtapes. That’s 5 EPs, 500 features and thousands of verses, millions of minds blown (that’s word to my pen),” Priddy shares. The album has been a standout with fans, who continue to connect with its compelling messages on life, resilience, and authenticity.

Best Rnb/Soul Album went to an artist that continues to transcend the boundaries of traditional genres. Testament – the debut album from lordkez – resonated widely with audiences, capturing raw emotions and authentic narratives that explore love, vulnerability, and self-acceptance. Her album promised to be a breakthrough album and she has cemented her place in the industry. “I dreamed of winning a SAMA when I started releasing music with intention,” lorkez says. “I actually mention it in a song called “The lord’s Prayer” on my EP Charcotta that dropped in 2020 with STAY LOW, I said “God bless my big dreams and the day I win a SAMA” and now that is my reality, I couldn’t be more grateful and more honoured for this recognition. It really means the world to me. I haven’t stopped crying, because where I come from, these things feel out of reach. But, they are not, because we did it and I am so grateful for everyone that believes in me”
