“Heita, hola. Trevor Noah here, and we are officially back in South Africa!”
That’s right. Prime Video announced earlier this week that the comedian would host its first-ever South African Original series, LOL: Last One Laughing.
The show will introduce audiences to some of the best comedic talents as Noah pits “ten of South Africa’s most popular people” against one another to see who can keep a straight face while simultaneously trying to make their opponents laugh – and lose.
The winner will receive a grand prize of R1 million, which will be donated to their charity of choice.
In a new video, Noah answers two burning questions about the show: What is it, and how does it work? And according to the former Daily Show host, “it’s actually pretty simple.”..
“I’m excited to be back home to host Prime Video’s first South African Original, LOL: Last One Laughing, and to have a chance to connect with my home audience,” Noah said in a press statement earlier this week.
“I am equally delighted for the opportunity to be working alongside my fellow home-grown comedy stars on a show that not only entertains but gives back to the South African production and charity communities.”
LOL: Last One Laughing South Africa is set to launch on Prime Video in early 2024.
